Hello! I'm a digital product designer from Seattle. I particularly enjoy thinking through complex problems and workflows in which product thinking and visual design are inextricably linked and must be considered together in order to build the best product for people to use.
Work History
I'm currently a design manager for Viva Goals at Microsoft, where we're working to bring purpose and alignment to work.
I came to Microsoft via Ally. I joined Ally as the first full-time hire in the US and over the next two and a half years, lead design of the product and built a design team. We were acquired by Microsoft in 2021.
Before Ally, I co-founded an app called Thaw with the goal of helping people feel less lonely in the world. We saw some success and learned a ton, but in the end we weren't able to turn it into a sustainable business.
I also spent three years running my own design consultancy helping early stage startups ship and iterate on their products. Things I loved: learning to run a business, working on a wide breadth of projects, and being solely responsible for my own success or failure. Things I missed: being able to focus completely and go really deep on a single project over a long period of time.
Earlier in my career I worked as a designer at startup Pro.com (since acquired by Opendoor) and Seattle agency Ratio Interactive.
About
I live in Seattle with my wife, our dog, and two cats. In my free time I enjoy reading books, watching movies, playing soccer, walking my dog, and trying to be creative away from screens.
Some things that I value are kindness, humor, hard work, and people who I can learn from.
I'm lucky to love what I do for work and it's important to me to always strive for excellence and continue growing. I try to balance that with the knowledge that nothing I make will last forever and that at the end of the day, it's really not that serious.
